DATA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Terms of Reference

 

  1. POWERS AND DUTIES
    1. To oversee the School’s data management (DM) to ensure the School priorities are met.
    2. To determine and monitor the School DM practices to ensure that they are in line with the University’s policies and guidelines (https://www.its.hku.hk/about/policies).
    3. To review IT services of the School which should align to strategic and operational priorities.
    4. To identify and manage strategic DM related risks.
    5. To provide guidance and recommendations concerning our School data related to expanding access, improving quality, strategic planning and assuring security.
    6. To coordinate data needs with hardware/software capabilities.
    7. To ensure consistency and control in ongoing data maintenance and usage.
    8. To establish standard data definitions, including documentation.
       
  2. MEMBERSHIP
    1. Appointments to the Committee shall be for a period of two years, renewable at the discretion of the School Director.
    2. Membership as of November 1, 2023:
    • Professor Joshua Ho, Associate Professor (Chair)
    • Professor Jason Wong, Professor
    • Ms Genevieve Lo (Personal Data Protection Coordinator)
    • Mr Abbasi, Syed Muhammad Tariq, Technical Officer (System Analyst)
